2025 DIARY JUNGLE SONG MIDI WEEK-AT-A-TIME

Laurel Burch was a self-taught artist and 'flower child' who created vibrant and moving themes with paint and paper. 

Though not trained in art or jewellery making, Laurel began to put together interesting metal scraps she found in junk yards. She created quirky jewellery and developed her artistic style into what we see today. Her vibrant colours and joyful paintings became so popular that her works were licensed around the world. Through art she found her solace, her haven, her sense of spiritual restoration.

For this Jungle Song design, Laurel Burch's original characters, foliage and other details were adapted by a Japanese artisan to create a new watercolour painting. The artwork was created in order to adapt Laurel's designs for screen printing. Repeated patterns from Laurel's original works, including borders, backgrounds and animals, were selected to create an entirely new, seamless design in her unique style.
